How Do You Pay Your Galveston County Property Tax?
Around October of every year, Texas citizens receive a property tax bill in the mail with their total amount due by January 31st of the following year. If you live in Galveston County, property taxes must be paid in full by this date; this is when all Texas property taxes are due. When you’re ready to pay your tax bill, you’ll need to visit The County of Galveston, TX website. From there, you can get more information about your Galveston County property tax bill or pay it online through a credit/debit card or eCheck. Information such as your fiduciary number, property address or account number will be needed to search for your tax bill. What If You Don’t Pay Galveston County Property Taxes?
On February 1st, delinquent property taxes for Galveston County (and all other Texas counties) go into effect. From that point forward, you will begin to accrue tax penalties that increase each month, starting at 7% of your total tax bill. After July 1st, however, you’ll receive a 20% collection fee to pay on top of the other fees stacked up on your unpaid balance.
